The Empire State Regional Council of carpenters is proud to release our new website. The goal of our site is to increase our presence on the internet, to keep our membership informed, demonstrate our ability to adapt to the changing times and increase the membership and market share of the carpenters union in New York State.

Why Join The UBC?The Answer is Simple. Carpenters do better when carpenters stand together. Alone a carpenter is at the mercy of their employer. Wages and benefits of a non union carpenter are at the sole discretion of their employer. Many unrepresented carpenters work in fear of losing the few benefits that their employers do provide. A Union Carpenter works under a collective bargaining agreement, a contract which clearly defines the wages, hours and working conditions, that the represented carpenter is expected to work under. Pension and health insurance benefits follow the worker so that if a represented carpenter is laid off, his/her health insurance and pension remain in effect and will follow them to the next contractor that they work for.
How do I Join? The first step in determining how to go about joining the UBC is to determine what skill level you are currently at. Remember that a true carpenter is skilled in all aspects of the trade and union signatory contractors expect nothing less than the best out of our Journeyman. There are two levels in which one may enter the carpenters union. Journeyman or Apprentice?
