Think You've Got What it Takes to be a Journeyman Union Carpenter?A Journeyman Union Carpenter is considered to be the best of the best. In order to join the union at the journey level there are several requirements that all applicants are required to meet. Field Experience - Journeyman applicants are required to show a minimum of five years of consecutive field experience working at the trade. Diversity of Skills - A true carpenter is one that is skilled in all of the aspects of the trade. Well rounded carpenters are highly employable and capable of taking a job out of the ground and staying on until completion. Twenty years experience hanging drywall does not make one a Journeyman Carpenter if that's all they know how to do. Hands on Evaluation - Most of the locals within the Empire Council require their applicants to undergo a field evaluation of one to two weeks prior to their being accepted as a member.
