Political Action:

A Message from Our Political Director

In these tough economic times it is even more crucial for us to be politically involved.  With projects being funded on the federal, state and local levels of government as well as the local construction approval process, we need labor friendly elected officials and a politically active membership.

The year 2010 will be an important election year being that traditionally the party in power loses 28 seats in the House and five seats in the Senate.  In addition there are always key losses at the local level.  There are two U. S. Senate seats up for a vote in New York plus all of the statewide offices.  We need every available member to register and then vote on Election Day.

Easy Ways to Get Involved:
  1. Register to vote!
(1-800-FOR-VOTE or go to NYS Board of Elections)

  2. Sign a letter to your elected officials supporting the union!
(Ask for the grassroots political representative at your Local Union Hall).

  3. Volunteer in your community!
(Contact the New York State Division of Community Services (518) 474-5741 or go to Community Services Website).

Endorsement Requests

The Empire State Regional Council of Carpenters only endorses candidates we feel will best represent our members and their families, and have a strong support for labor and carpenter issues.

If you are seeking an endorsement from the Empire State Regional Council of Carpenters please mail a letter of request to Tricia Farmer at 1284 Central Avenue, Albany, New York 12205 or an e-mail to tfarmer@esrcc.org to obtain a Candidate Questionnaire.
