Training and education are vital to successful construction projects. For over 125 years, the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America have provided skilled craft training for the men and women who build across our nation. Our commitment to educational advancement stretches from a first year apprentice to the veteran master carpenter, with programs designed to increase each member’s knowledge, skills and productivity and make our contractors recognized as the best in the industry.
Comprehensive, Hands-On Apprentice Training
No one recognizes the need for training and education more than the Carpenters’ Union, with training instructors who are certified to teach the latest technologies and methods.
The skills and hands-on training that are part of an apprenticeship with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters give each new worker the best education available to begin a lifelong, meaningful career as a skilled tradesperson in the construction industry. Experience in the field, coupled with classroom training from leading industry professionals allows apprentices to emerge as a member of an elite class of carpenters, a UBC Journeyman Carpenter.
Career-Long Educational Opportunities
As building systems change and develop over time, the knowledge and skills needed for installation need to keep pace. Our membership has access to the most advanced Journeyman Upgrade training, offered to all members free of charge. The Upgrade Training Program includes training in the areas of welding, blueprint reading, fall protection, first aid and CPR, Hazmat and others important subjects.
