Empire State Regional Council of Carpenters Scholarship Fund

 

    Executive Secretary/Treasurer - Business Manager, John J. Fuchs announces that the 2006 Empire State Regional Council of Carpenters Scholarship Fund's Application is now available.

 

      The Scholarship Fund shall award a total of (8) scholarships with an annual stipend of $2,000 per scholarship for a period of (4) years each.  Two (2) scholarships shall be awarded within each Region of the Empire State Regional Council of Carpenters.

     Applications will be available as of November 7, 2005 and can be picked up from any of the local union offices through out the state.  The applications must be returned with a postmark no later than April 19, 2006 to the Council office in Hauppauge.

 

 

 

RULES AND REGULATIONS
EMPIRE STATE REGIONAL COUNCIL OF CARPENTERS

SCHOLARSHIP FUND

 

 

1.                  The Scholarship Fund shall award a total of eight (8) scholarships with an annual stipend of $2,000 per scholarship for a period of four (4) years each.  Two (2) scholarships shall be awarded within each Region of the Empire State Regional Council of Carpenters.

 

2.                  To qualify, the applicant must be the natural or legally adopted son of a member in good standing of the Empire State Regional Council of Carpenters, a full-time employee of the Council of the Council, an employee on whose behalf contributions are made to a constituent fringe benefit fund affiliated with the Empire State Regional Council of Carpenters, or an individual in pension pay status from an affiliated pension fund of the Empire State Regional Council of Carpenters.

 

3.                  Applicants will be considered eligible without regard to age, provided:

 

a.             they are unmarried;

b.            entering college as a freshman without prior college credit;

c.            entering college with prior college credit earned while completing the senior year of high school in either an early admissions or advanced placement program;

d.            a mid-year graduate who entered college prior to the academic year beginning in September, when a scholarship would first be payable.

 

4.                  The awards will be sent directly to the college only and credited to the student’s account for payment of authorized covered expenses (tuition in college, accommodations, room and board and documented matriculation and other usual and similar fees).

 

5.                  In order to maintain scholarship status, an individual must be a full-time student, within the definition of the criteria established by their respective school, and he/she must maintain a C or higher grade point average.

 

6.                  For children of eligible employees, who will be February or June high school graduates, applications must be obtained from the Council Office and completed and returned by April 19th.  The application shall ask for your dependent’s complete records at high school, including SAT scores, grades, teacher recommendations and extracurricular activities.  No application will be acted upon by the Council Office without the complete high school records certified by that school.

 

7.         You must be a Graduating from High School in 2006.
